Joint International Programs Overview

  • Five international exchange programs offered by TUM School of Management

  • Academic partners across Europe, Asia, North America

Application Process & Requirements

  • Application deadline: December 1, 2025

  • Two-step process:

  • Personal interviews in January/February for selected candidates

  • Can apply for multiple programs simultaneously

  • Complete document submission required for preselection

DTU Denmark Program (DTU One and Grow)

  • Target students: MMT, MMDT, MIM (Munich & Heilbronn)

  • Focus areas: Operations & supply chain management, innovation & entrepreneurship

  • Timeline: Year 1 at TUM, Year 2 at DTU (August-December exchange + spring thesis)

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree, A-levels, current transcripts

    • English C1+ (not older than 2 years)

    • Motivation letter, CV, matriculation certificate

  • Student insights from Axel & David:

    • Earlier exam periods (November assignments, December exams)

    • Continuous workload vs. TUM’s final exam focus

    • Strong group work component (50%+ of grades)

    • Campus life experience in Copenhagen area

    • More accessible professors and TAs

ESSEC Paris Double Degree

  • Target: MMT students only

  • Timeline: Semesters 1-2 at TUM, 3-4 at ESSEC, 5 at TUM (thesis)

  • Additional requirement: 15-week internship (preferably France)

  • Administrative fee: €950 per academic year

  • Language requirements: French B2+, English C1+, German B2+

  • Five specialization tracks:

    • International Finance

    • International Business

    • Strategic Management

    • Sustainability & Social Innovation

  • Erasmus + DAAD funding available

  • Student experiences (Henrik & Shara Yu):

    • Strategic Management: 80-85% go into consulting

    • Study trip to London included

    • Constant workload with presentations, midterms, finals

STEP - University of Texas Austin

  • Focus: Energy transition and decarbonization

  • Target: All master’s programs (2nd/3rd semester students with 30+ ECTS)

  • Duration: One semester (August-December)

  • Academic structure:

    • Up to 4 courses (12-18 ECTS) at Jackson School of Geosciences

    • Master’s thesis preparation with UT researchers

    • Thesis completion at TUM with Center for Energy Markets supervisor

  • Costs to consider:

    • No tuition fees

    • Health insurance mandatory (~€1,300/semester)

    • Visa costs (~€650)

    • Living expenses similar to Munich

    • Flight costs €800-1,500

  • PROMOS scholarship available for thesis research abroad

  • Requirements:

    • English C1+

    • Additional questionnaire beyond standard application

    • Strong innovation/entrepreneurship motivation

  • High living costs: €1,000-1,500/month rent

  • Flight costs: €800-1,500

  • Internship salary not guaranteed (startup dependent)

  • Erasmus Plus funding available for internships
